Vision and Goals
Welcome to all of our Temple and Family History Consultants and all other leaders in our stake who are involved in this great work! This site was created to allow us to collaborate and share ideas and experiences with one another. Pull up a chair, grab a hot chocolate, and let's get started.
The Gospel is true. This work will bring great joy to many people, living and deceased. You will receive help from the other side and you will receive blessings “in all other aspects of your life.” Experience it. Teach it.
What is difficult to understand today will be simple tomorrow.
Repeat to yourself: "Keep it simple. Rely on divine inspiration. One day I’ll discover that I am a family history expert."
The Purpose of Temple and Family History Work (extracts):
“Many of your ancestors died never having the chance to accept the gospel and to receive the blessings and promises you have received. The Lord is fair and He is loving. And so He prepared for you and me a way for us to have the desire of our hearts to offer to our ancestors all the blessings He has offered us."
“Many of your deceased ancestors will have received a testimony that the message of the missionaries is true. When you received that testimony you could ask the missionaries for baptism. But those who are in the spirit world cannot. The ordinances you so cherish are offered only in this world. Someone in this world must go to a holy temple and accept the covenants on behalf of the person in the spirit world. That is why we are under obligation to find the names of our ancestors and ensure that they are offered by us what they cannot receive there without our help."
“I have learned that those who engage in family history research and then perform the temple ordinance work for those whose names they have found will know the additional joy of receiving both halves of the blessing.”
—Henry B. Eyring
Doctrine and Covenants 128:12–18
Joseph Smith teaches about the salvation of the living and the dead.
Lesson 135: Doctrine and Covenants and Church History Seminary Teacher Manual
"Our ancestors who die without the gospel cannot progress toward perfection until the saving ordinances of the gospel are performed for them."
Hastening the Work by President Thomas S. Monson
"Our job is to search out our dead and then go to the temple and perform the sacred ordinances that will bring to those beyond the veil the same opportunities we have."
Leaders Encourage Members to Tie Family History to the Temple
“When members of the Church find the names of their ancestors and take those names to the temple for ordinance work, the temple experience can be greatly enriched.”
"Receiving ordinances vicariously for one of your own ancestors will make the time in the temple more sacred, and even greater blessings will be received."
Vision and Goals
Our vision is to have each member of our stake (8 years old+) engaged in "hastening the work on both sides of the veil."
Success will be measured as...
An ever increasing number of our members become engaged in temple and family history work. More of our members are preparing for and attending the temple for ourselves and for our own deceased ancestors.
The Spirit of Elijah is felt throughout our stake with the resulting promised blessings, strengthened testimonies, and an increase in love for our eternal family.
