From High Point, Welcome, Colfax, Kernersville and Lakefield:
This takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes from the stake center.
- From the Interstate 85-Highway 109 interchange at Exit 103, follow 109 South through Denton and Handy for 30 miles to Mullinix Road.
- Turn right onto Mullinix Road (US Forest Service Road 1154) about 1/2 mile past the sign for the town of Eldorado (if you come to 'The Farm' on the left side of 109 you have gone too far). There is also is a sign for the "Badin Lake Recreation Area" on the left side of the road (Hwy 109). Turn right at this sign onto Mullinix Road.
- Go 1.5 miles to the end of Mullinix Road/1154 and turn right onto McLeans Creek Road (US Forest Service Road 544).
- Go 1.7 miles, past Canebrake Horse Camp to the end of McLeans Creek Road/544.
- Turn right onto Badin Lake Road (US Forest Service Road 597; pavement ends).
- Go just 0.2 miles and turn left onto US Forest Service Road 597A for about 0.6 miles.
- Turn left for the road to Badin Lake Campground. Follow the signs about 0.4 miles to the Upper Loop campsites.
From the Asheboro area, take Highway 49 west to Highway 109 south of Handy. Then follow the above directions.
From the Salisbury area, take Highway 52 south to Highway 49, then east to Highway 109 south of Handy. Then follow the above directions.
