Save steps when copying information from a source record

I find this especially useful when copying both date and place information from a source document into a Family Tree record.

Here is part of a Findagrave record:

For this example, select the death information in the source record (Findagrave in this case) by clicking and dragging the mouse over the text to be copied. Then copy it into the clipboard using Ctrl-C (Cmd-C on Mac) as shown here:

Now go to the record for this same person in your Family Tree and open it to the detail view:

Click on the death date or death place and then click “edit” at the right side of the box that opens for the death information to be edited.

Click in the death date field and paste the clipboard (Ctrl-v or Cmd-v) as shown here:

See how it automatically finds the date in the pasted text and offers it as a suggested standardized date. Click the standardized date to select it. The standardized:

Now select all of the current text in the death place field:

And paste the clipboard (Ctrl-v or Command-v). See again how FamilySearch automatically finds the location within the string and suggests the standardize version of the location:

Click the standardized location to select it:

Now save it by clicking the blue save button at :

And voila! You were able to copy both the date and place into the clipboard (one copy action) and then paste the clipboard into both the date and the place fields to obtain and select the standardized version of each one.

Thus, the steps needed to accomplish this are fewer and faster.

Note: in rare cases, FamilySearch will not be able to automatically find the date or location within the full pasted text string. In that case, first simply delete unnecessary next (usually at the beginning of the string) and it will suddenly find the standardized version.
